Key rotation

Rotate a Cybora feed license key safely after exposure, device replacement, or operational maintenance.

Rotate a Cybora key when a feed URL was exposed, a firewall was replaced, or an operational process requires credential renewal.

When to rotate

Common reasons include:

  • Feed URL posted in a public or shared location.
  • Screenshot exposed the full URL.
  • Firewall ownership changed.
  • Device was replaced or decommissioned.
  • Unusual polling activity suggests key misuse.

Rotation workflow

  1. Request or generate a replacement key through the supported Cybora process.
  2. Add the new feed URL to the firewall.
  3. Trigger or wait for a refresh.
  4. Confirm that the new feed imports successfully.
  5. Remove the old feed URL from the firewall.
  6. Revoke the old key.

After rotation

Check logs for failed downloads after the old key is revoked. In HA environments, confirm that every node uses the new feed URL.
